華府中國教會簡介
本教會源於1957年由蔡錫惠弟兄與幾位中國基督徒留學生在華府Calvet街國際學生協會的辦公室開始舉行查經班，於一九五八年八月三十一日正式舉行主日崇拜，成立教會，以國語進行，當時約有二十多位會眾參加。及後聚會人大增，便購買華府西北十六街5709號一棟大房子作為教會，並正式定名為「華府國語禮拜堂」，聘請周主培牧師為教會首任牧師。
由於人數繼續增長，便於1969年由第二任牧師張子華領導進行購買現址建堂。於1971三月建造完成，開始聚會，並將教會定名為「基督教華府中國教會」。
本教會歷經多位牧師帶領，現任主任牧師為孫雅各，副牧師沈友謹，與三位長老，梁國柱﹐何燊和張佳哲聯合牧養教會，並與青少年事工傳道Jason Wang，以及十一位執事帶領教會事工，遵行教會「聖經、禱告、合一、差傳」的宗旨。感謝主，教會繼續增長發展，除差派短宣外出傳揚福音之外，還有與國際華人宣教協會聯合差派本教會劉齎傳道夫婦到南非牧養當地華人教會。
教會的英語部事工由沈友謹（Eugene Schamko）牧師負責牧養英語會眾。英語部聚會在教會禮堂舉行。雖然中英事工各有特色，分別聚會，但全教會合一是教導、訓練、和裝備教會會眾的主旨與目標。
Chinese Christian Church was founded in 1958 from a Bible Study group led by Ted Choy of International Students, Inc. in Calvert Street in Washington, D.C. The first Sunday worship service in Mandarin was on August 31, 1958, with about twenty Chinese Christians in attendance.
With growth came a move to larger facilities at 5709 16th Street, N.W. The church was officially incorporated as “Chinese Mandarin Church” with Rev. Moses Chow as the first pastor.
As church attendance continued to grow, a building program was established in 1969 under Pastor Fred Cheung. The Piney Branch Road location was purchased, and construction of the sanctuary building was completed in March 1971. The church also changed its name to “Chinese Christian Church of Greater Washington, D.C.” to reflect its expanding mission.
Since then, the church had been led by several pastors. The present Senior Pastor is James Sun, and the Associate Pastor is Eugene Schamko. The three elders are K.C. Leung, Mark Ho and George Chang. They work together to lead the church with Youth Minister Jason Wang, and 11 deacons. The church values are: Biblical, Prayerful, Unified, and Sending. As the church continues to grow, we have sent short-term missionaries to overseas, and jointly with Chinese International Mission, Inc. sent our minister Chi Liu and his wife to South Africa as long-term missionaries.
The English ministry is under the leadership of Pastor Eugene Schamko. The English Sunday services are held in the sanctuary. While being a distinct ministry of our church, the English congregation enjoys a strong family connection to our church as a whole. This kind of unity and training and equipping has been the hallmark of our English ministry.
